In 1997, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences became the first medical school in the Kansas City area to host a White Coating Ceremony for first-year medical students. It’s a tradition that lives on today.

KCUMB’s White Coating Ceremony is a touching and significant event, symbolizing the beginning of a student’s journey to becoming an osteopathic physician. Often, students include family and friends who are physicians by asking them to help them don the white coat during the ceremony.
